Abstract

nutritional insecurity in adults with sickle cell disease. Studies involving people aged 19 to 64 years with sickle cell disease and food and nutritional insecurity were included, with no language restriction in the search period from the year 2000 onwards. The scoping review followed the recommendations proposed by the JBI manual. The search sources were: COCHRANE LIBRARY, EMBASE, LILACS, SCIELO, MEDLINE, SCOPUS, ScienceDirect. Among the 2556 studies mapped, only 12 studies were included. It was observed that food insecurity was measured through anthropometric indicators, food consumption and clinical biological indicators. This highlights a research gap for evaluating sociodemographic and other poverty-related factors that determine patterns of access and availability of food among minority populations that are affected by sickle cell disease.
