Abstract

Introduction: In Brazil, wounds are a serious public
health issue due to the large number of patients with altered skin
integrity, which is levied on public spending.
Objective: To investigate, in the literature, the effects of the
wounds treatments in this decade with so many new products in the
market.
Methods: It is about literature revision, using articles indexed on
the basis of Lilacs dates, SciELO, Medline and specific books with
emphasis on the last ten years, in Portuguese and English. All works
related to the factors connected to the treatment of wounds, scarring
and scientific knowledge for that were selected.
Results: Studies highlight a need for providing scientific basis for
wound treatment, applying with knowledge such covers, are effective,
cheap, accessible and adaptable to the wounded area, decrease
the time of the cicatrization. Besides, cleansing the wound without
mistreating the viable tissue, using potable water, warm physiologic
solutions, ample debridement without destroying the neoformed tissue,
applying with scientific knowledge such cover that leaves the
wound humid, warm, with facility for gaseous changes protecting this
environment against infecting microorganisms. Also, resting or diminishing
the pressure over the injured local, eating healthy food and
having a good sleep, neither smoking nor drinking would improve
and fasten cicatrization.
Conclusion: Studies about the effects of the treatments offered
in this decade, based on scientific principles, specific knowledge of
the cover and use of cleaning, debridement and not forgetting the
primordial function of the organism in the healing of the wound has
offered a recovering of the skin integrity.
