Abstract

ABSTRACT. Introduction: The cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is
characterized by rapid loss of neurological functions due to blockage
(ischemia) and/or rupture (hemorrhage) of cerebral blood vessels. Rehabilitation
is one of the numerous roles of nursing, which stimulates
independency, eventually promoting self‑care, in patients, and helping
their return to living in family and in community.
Objective: The aim of this study was to analyse the amount of
knowledge of FHS’s nurses (Family Health Strategy) in the rehabilitation
of patients with sequelae of CVA.
Methods: To construct this work, we used the quantitative and
qualitative methododologies, using a questionnaire with18 questions.
The sample consisted of13 nurses from 27FHSlocatedin the municipal
area of Valparaíso of Goiás, between 20 and 30 October 2011.
Results: The results showed that nurses FHT understand the pathogenicity
and the peculiarities of strokes, as well as its characteristics
and determining factors. Conclusion: We can conclude that the FHS
nurses’ level of knowledge is satisfactory regarding CVA. However, it is
necessary toup date such professionals for a more efficient monitoring
of people affected by stroke.
