Abstract

"Marburg fever", "Margurg hemorrhagic fever", "Marburgvirus", "Marburg virus", "Marburg virus" (MARV), or even "Marburg virus disease" (MVD), are nomenclatures related to the same complex disease, which has high virulence and lethality, and belongs directly to the order "Mononegavirales", the family "Filoviridae" and the genus "Marburgvirus".1,2,3,5,9,10,12,13 As identified in the scientific literature, another alternative term directly related to MVD is "Lake Victoria Marburgvirus", which has several lineages and its genus does not show cross-type antigenic reactivity with the well-known "Ebolavirus"
