Importance of the role of nursing in care for women victims of violence

Abstract

Objective: to describe before the literary the actions of nursing in the care of women victims of domestic violence, identifying flaws in the practices and dimensions of care. Method: This is a narrative review study of the literature, with exploratory qualitative approach, carried out in April 2021, in which scientific articles were addressed, researched through the Descriptors in Health Sciences: "Nursing Care", "Violence against women", "Domestic violence", "Women's Care", "Maria da Penha Law", obtained through the following databases: Virtual Health Library; Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences, Scientific Electronic Library Online and documents and regulations of the Ministry of Health and the Federal Council of Nursing. We included documents published between 2015 and 2021, which had considerable links with the proposed theme, and excluded materials that were published before 2014 or that were not significantly linked to the subject. Results: After the selection of documents that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria established, 11 were selected, considered relevant for the study. The nurse is configured as the professional who receives women primarily, both in primary care and in the emergency room, and should thus provide a friendly dialogue, generating a link of trust between professional and victim, promoting intimacy and providing security so that they feel comfortable to report what happened and, consequently, make priority decisions. Conclusion: The conduct of nurses would not be possible without the multidisciplinary team and the help of the health network, in view of the scenarios of violence against women.
