Abstract

Objective: Alcoholic polyneuropathy is a chronic condition associated with alcohol toxicity and nutritional deficiency, with a high prevalence in chronic alcohol users. Furthermore, factors such as multiple chemical dependencies, psychiatric disorders, and vulnerable social conditions complicate the management of the disease, which is often associated with other conditions, such as stroke. The case described involves a 50-year-old patient with a history of multiple substance dependence, alcoholic polyneuropathy, stroke sequelae, mood disorder, malnutrition, and harmful habits such as smoking and alcohol consumption. The discussion highlights the need for multidisciplinary teams to meet biopsychosocial demands, emphasizing the role of nutritionists, physical therapists, psychiatrists, and social workers. Strategies such as caregiver support, functional rehabilitation, and combating harmful habits are essential for managing complex cases like this.
