Facial Harmonization with Fillers and Botulinum Toxin
Evidence and Clinical Limits
Keywords:
Facial harmonization, Dermal fillers, Botulinum toxinAbstract
Facial harmonization is an important strategy for aesthetics. Among the available resources, dermal fillers and botulinum toxin stand out, and when used in combination, they enhance results by reducing the mechanical degradation of hyaluronic acid, leading to more beneficial outcomes. Thus, with the aim of investigating the evidence and therapeutic limitations of the combined use of these compounds, an integrative literature review was conducted between 2016 and 2024 in the PubMed and SciELO databases. The results demonstrated efficacy, especially in the upper third of the face, as well as applications in aesthetic dentistry. Regarding safety, the main adverse effects reported were erythema, edema, ecchymosis, and nodules. It is concluded that facial harmonization with botulinum toxin and dermal fillers is effective and relatively safe when performed by qualified professionals. Considering clinical limitations, the consolidation of evidence-based protocols requires greater reporting and dissemination of complications.
